IHSAA REVIEW COMMITTEE

Minutes of the June 7, 2002 meeting at the IHSAA Offices.

 

 

 

PRESENT

Chairman Oren Sutherlin, Linda Barnett, Dennis Eller, Cecil Raymond, Joseph Trimboli.

 

HEARINGS

A hearing was conducted to consider the appeal of Mark Bechtold, a student at Seeger High School.  Mark had been declared ineligible for the 2002-03 school year on the basis of Rule 12-2.  A hearing was requested in order to appeal the ruling and obtain a 9th semester of eligibility.  Following the hearing, the student’s family and legal counsel the IHSAA submitted findings of fact.  Having analyzed all of the available data, the IHSAA Review Committee voted to uphold the decision of the Commissioner. 

 

A hearing was conducted to consider the appeal of Kristopher Scott, a student at Evansville North High School.  Kristopher had been declared to have limited eligibility on the basis of Rule 19-6.2.  A hearing was requested in order to appeal the ruling and obtain full eligibility.  Following the hearing, the student’s family and legal counsel for the IHSAA submitted findings of fact.  Having analyzed all of the available data, the IHSAA Review Committee voted to uphold the decision of the Commissioner. 

  

A hearing was conducted to consider the appeal of Samuel Pharr, a student at Lebanon High School.  Samuel had been declared ineligible on the basis of Rule 19-4.  A hearing was requested in order to appeal the ruling and obtain full eligibility.  Following the hearing, legal counsel for the student’s family and the IHSAA submitted findings of fact.  Having analyzed all of the available data, the IHSAA Review Committee voted to uphold the decision of the Commissioner, with the exception that student-athlete would be able to regain full eligibility following 365 days from his last competition at Rockville High School.
